Effect of Microban®

Microban® technology utilizes the antimicrobial properties of silver and is integrated directly into the plastic structure of the filters. This ensures that the protective agent is permanently effective on the entire surface that comes into contact with water. As soon as bacteria touch this treated area, Microban® disrupts their vital processes – their growth is inhibited and they die.
In Europe, the product is certified for use in drinking water applications under the Biocidal Products Directive (BPD). In the US, it meets FDA (Food and Drug Administration) requirements. Microban®-treated products are tested to the most stringent quality standards both in Microban International's state-of-the-art laboratories in North Carolina and through independent testing by Atlas Filtri® to ensure their antibacterial effectiveness.
Independent studies show that, compared to untreated materials, bacterial growth—such as E. coli—can be reduced by up to 99.99% (log 3.9). The tests are based on ISO 22196 and were conducted by accredited laboratories such as IMSL (Industrial Microbiological Services Limited, UK).

Application

• The 5µm Sanic filter is usually used in the first filter stage instead of the conventional sediment filter
• The filter cleans the water to crystal clear 5µm
• Microban® technology is not used to purify the water, but to prevent the growth of bacteria on the tank and cartridge
• These bacteria can affect the durability and performance of the filter.
• Use only with drinking water (tap water)!
• Perfect for new water filter systems.
• For previously used water filter systems, we recommend thoroughly cleaning the filter housing or disinfecting it before using the SANIC filters.
